Grafisch Lyceum Rotterdam

INTERNATIONAL COURSE MEDIA DESIGN

The International Course gives students the opportunity to study design and interactive media exclusively in English. The programme offers students a broad exposure to the world of visual communication and interactive media to prepare them for exciting careers in the Multimedia Design industry here and abroad.

Young designers learn valuable skills and acquire knowledge about design theory, concept development, communication and professional work processes. Working with the computer and design software are central to becoming a professional designer. Students follow lessons, complete assignments and work on projects in teams to learn to develop concepts, websites & motion graphics, logo's and graphic products. The GLR brings relevant new technologies and developments from the design industry into the classroom. More than other programmes, the International Course gives extra attention to cultural diversity and internationalisation which prepares you for a career without borders.

Why the International Course?

  • A college education in Design & Digital Media in English.
  • Opens international career perspectives.
  • Learn to develop your own skills and knowledge for continued personal development.

Our Programme

The International Course is a four year college study conducted exclusively in English. Dutch language classes are possibly included to improve individual language and communication skills. The 1st and 2nd years of study are dedicated to learning and exercising a wide range of important design and software skills. In the 3rd year, students work on their first examination project. After successfully completing the examination students leave the classroom to start their first practical experience at an internship in a professional design-, digital media- or advertising firm.

Students are required to complete two internships at internationally-oriented design firms. An internship abroad 'now' can open the world to an international career 'later'. Following the 2nd internship, students return to school to continue their study and complete a final project. The programme is concluded with a final assessment and exciting period with student exhibitions ending in graduation and a diploma.
Students who complete the International Course graduate with an mbo diploma for Interactive Media Designer. The program is not a Bachelors program.

Digital Media Design

Digital Media Designers use the computer and interfaces to create interactive products such as websites, mobile interfaces, interactive infographics, DVD's and motion graphics.
Students learn to create concepts and apply them to different forms of visual and interactive communication. Learning to work in teams and presenting your work are valuable skills to help organisations reach specific marketing and communication objectives.

International Opportunities

Once you've graduated, your new design skills and knowledge together with your command of English will enable you to take advantage of a broad range of opportunities in international design companies in The Netherlands and abroad.
