The GLR has a fully equipped printing department to teach students the most recent prepress, plate making, printing and finishing processes. The print media department is proud of the high quality offset printing presses, a semi-automatic press, a silkscreen printing carousel and infrared dryer used for instruction. There are also folding and binding machines and guillotine cutters for teaching finishing processes. A laser die-cutting table is used for teaching students about packaging. At the GLR we also have an in-house Print Shop. Here students learn to work in a professional print shop with multi-color digital printers, super-size A-0, high-quality plotters and automated digital finishing equipment.
In addition we also have a large sign studio with cutting plotters, foil rollers, engraving machines and special colour printers that are used to produce stickers and lettering for shop windows, cars, commercial vehicles such as vans and trucks or over-sized banners.
Chromakey and sound studio
All classrooms for studies in graphics, web design, animation, video editing and games are equipped with recent versions of software and hardware that you'll find in the professional industry. In the chromakey studio students are taught to mix live action with backgrounds, animations and special effects. Students can reserve and borrow digital still cameras, tripods, lights and video cameras and equipment for projects from the camera lending department at school.
The GLR also has a professional recording studio, where students learn to create soundeffects for various media products, such as animations and games.
Theatre Technique & Video
For the students of the Video & Theatre Technique programs, the GLR has specially designed and built a 500 m2 studio space that is equipped with professional light, audio and video apparatus and technologies. This versatile studio space can be divided into separate studios where students can work with sound amplification, sound recording and multiple-camera registration. There are also professional edit suites, allowing students to work individually or in groups on audio or video productions. The GLR is also proud of its high-tech 'live' studio.
